la Rey revs his way to the top"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malvern East resident and local superbike racer Peter de la Rey is revving his way to another title in the South African National Superbike Drag Racing Championships, after an outstanding performance in the competition\u2019s third and fourth rounds.<\/p>\n<p>The event was held at Killarney Raceway and saw de la Rey continue his climb up the leaderboard in the Superbike Class on his BMW S1000RR, sponsored by Bavarian Motorcycles.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<h4>ALSO top<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>\u201cAfter round one and two, which were held in Port Elizabeth earlier this year, I managed to do a lot of development work on the bike, which really paid off.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter practise I found a good set-up that worked well enough to put me in pole position in qualifying with a time of 9.60 seconds,\u201d de la Rey explained.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Admitting the first round at Killarney Raceway was incredibly tough with everybody giving their all de la Rey allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the end I won against Nic Hendrics from Cape Town on a similar BMW S1000RR to mine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis win really gave me the push I needed and I was on a roll beating Devon Naidu, also on a BMW S1000RR, in the next round,\u201d he said happily.<\/p>\n<p>The two wins have left de la Rey on a firm footing heading into round five and six of the meantime to prepare but it will be mainly for high altitude racing like up here in Gauteng.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt sea level it is really quick and only takes a few runs just to acclimatise,\u201d de la
