The Rand Airshow is set to take flight once again from Rand Airport, on August 19.<\/p>\n
The programme, which makes for a great family day out of the house, is made up of displays from Harvards, Pitts Specials, a Dakota, the Silver Falcons, Trojans, the P-51 \u201cMustang Sally\u201d and much more \u2013 all flown by highly skilled pilots doing what they do best.<\/p>
The show kicks off at 10am, but the gates open at 7am.<\/p>\n
It is scheduled to run until 5pm.<\/p>
This is the perfect family day out, with the flying aces of South Africa showcasing their skills.<\/p>\n
Patrons can expect to see thrilling displays by skydivers, the Puma Energy Flying Lions, the Henley Air Bell 222 Chopper, the Gabriel Wings Aerobatic Team and much more.<\/p>\n
One of the aerobatic teams to look out for at the event is the Puma Energy Flying Lions.<\/p>\n
The team regularly grabs headlines with their daring feats and magnificent aerial displays at airshows around South Africa.<\/p>\n
Sponsored by Puma Energy, the team consists of renowned pilots Scully Levin, Arnie Meneghelli, Ellis Levin and Sean Thackwray, and has over the years become a finely tuned machine refining their manoeuvres to something that can only be described as world class.<\/p>\n
The Flying Lions have been operating since 1999 and are regarded as an essential act at every major airshow across the country, using the world-renowned Harvard AT6 aircraft or \u201cTexan\u201d in their shows.<\/p>\n
The Harvard is one of the most successful pilot trainers ever built, with more than 17 000 constructed between 1940 and 1954 alone.<\/p>\n
With its inimitable magical sound and fitted smoke system to enhance the choreography of the display, the Harvard has huge spectator appeal and consistently draws massive crowds at aviation events around the country.<\/p>\n
