chef shines in Monaco"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Born and raised in Tembisa, chef Percy Baloyi, sous chef at Aurelia\u2019s Restaurant at Emperors Palace, is making a name for himself both locally and internationally.<\/p>\n<p>The local chef recently returned from an exciting week-long trip to Monaco where he had the honour of meeting HSH Prince Albert.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item target=\"_blank\">Ballet dancers to take to the stage<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Percy teamed up with Chef de Cuisine Andr\u00e9 Bezuidenhout to produce an extraordinary \u2018Afroperial\u2019 menu that was enjoyed by members of the royal family of Monaco and 100 high-profile guests at the Hotel Monte-Carlo Bay.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_183262\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-183262\" extraordinary \u2018Afroperial\u2019 menu which was served to the royal family of Monaco and 100 high-profile guests.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis trip was something beyond my wildest dreams.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cBesides representing South Africa and Emperors Palace in Monte Carlo, I also flew for the first time which was absolutely amazing,\u201d Percy explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was also incredible to share my knowledge with overseas chefs, including chef Marcel Ravin, and to learn about the power of working together to create magic in the kitchen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The distinguished guests enjoyed a celebration of African flavour by sampling seven expertly prepared dishes, including lemon-meringue spring rolls, oxtail and grilled dukka crusted salmon.<\/p>\n<p>The trip ended in true South African style with a lip-smacking braai.<\/p>\n<h4>ALSO READ:\u00a0<a pageant<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>\u201cWe received great feedback from the guests who complimented the food and appreciated the South African techniques and flavours.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe even had the opportunity to meet HSH Prince Albert, which was a major highlight for us all.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was an incredibly fast-paced, exciting and exhausting week of cooking, and it was all worth it considering how much
