Two people were killed and 20 others injured when two taxis collided with a truck on Rand Airport Road, this morning (Monday).<\/p>\n
ER24 paramedics and other emergency services arrived on the scene shortly after 7am.<\/p>
\u201cOne of the taxis and the truck were found in the middle of the road while a second taxi had come to a stop on the side of the road.<\/p>\n
\u201cMost of the occupants had climbed out of the vehicle while others were still seated inside the vehicle,\u201d explained Russel Meiring, ER24 communications officer.<\/p>
Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered the bodies of a man and woman lying motionless in front of one of the taxis.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnfortunately, both patients had already succumbed to their injuries and nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead on scene,\u201d said Meiring.<\/p>\n
Twenty other patients were attended to on scene, with their injuries ranging from minor to critical.<\/p>\n
\u201cParamedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured with advanced life support interventions.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnce treated, the patients were transported to various hospitals for further treatment,\u201d said Meiring.<\/p>\n
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.<\/p>\n
