{"id":178450,"date":"2018-05-15T06:30:32","date_gmt":"2018-05-15T04:30:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/?p=178450"},"modified":"2018-05-14T14:50:12","modified_gmt":"2018-05-14T12:50:12","slug":"warning-cold-wet-weather-expected-persist-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2018\/05\/15\/warning-cold-wet-weather-expected-persist-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Warning &#8211; Cold and wet weather expected to persist for the week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It may be time to get out your winter\u00a0coats, scarves and gloves\u00a0as it seems winter in upon us.<\/p>\n<p>The South African Weather Service is warning of cold and rainy weather for Gauteng on Monday and Tuesday, with low temperatures persisting throughout the week and into the weekend.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<h4>ALSO READ:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/61385\/take-precautions-in-the-cold\/\" target=\"_blank\">Take precautions in the cold<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>According to the weather services temperatures will remain in the low to middle teens, with widespread showers and thundershowers expected over the eastern parts of the North West, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and the northern and eastern Free State, and even snow is possible in Lesotho.<\/p>\n<p>The service further warned that due to this rainfall some areas, including parts of Gauteng, may experience localised flooding.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>People living in informal settlements have been urged to be careful when keeping warm, while pet owners are\u00a0urged to ensure their animals\u00a0have appropriate shelter during this time.<\/p>\n<h4>ALSO READ:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/115921\/wise-winter-warming\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wise winter warming<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Some simple tips on how to stay warm this weekend:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Warm yourself first \u2013 It\u2019s easier to change your body temperature than room temperature, not to mention more eco-friendly. Instead of turning up the heat, put on another layer of clothing.<\/li>\n<li>Wear a hat \u2013 Your mom may have said that you lose 80 per cent of your body heat through your head, but that\u2019s not actually true.\u00a0If you\u2019re otherwise clothed, you\u2019ll lose heat from any surface that\u2019s exposed. So put on your hat, even if you\u2019re inside.<\/li>\n<li>Switch between hot and cold water in the shower \u2013 Hot showers immediately warm you up, but cold showers improve blood circulation
