Not everyone has the privilege to take a day off from work to visit a clinic and because of this, the metro has broadened access to healthcare services.<\/p>\n
Twenty-nine of the metro\u2019s clinics have extended operating hours from their standard hours.<\/p>
\u201cThe provision of extended service hours is part of the metro\u2019s strategy to reduce the burden of long waiting times at clinics and to improve access to primary health care.<\/p>\n
\u201cFive more clinics are earmarked in future to be added to those that operate for 24 hours and 12 hours a day and construction of an additional 10 state-of-the-art healthcare facilities is already in the planning phase to increase accessibility.<\/p>
\u201cThere are currently 94 primary health care facilities in Ekurhuleni,\u201d said Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the metro.<\/p>\n
