The listeria breakout has claimed 180 lives across the country and over 20 confirmed cases in Ekurhuleni since January.<\/p>\n
A lot of South African families eat cold meats daily, whether you are on the Banting diet and need your daily dosage of bacon or you need the comfort of iKota because of an emotional day, the fact is the majority of the country consumes large amounts of cold meats. With the world\u2019s worst listeria outbreak upon us, many parents have been left wondering what to pack for their children\u2019s lunch boxes.<\/p>
The GCN has put together creative and easy-to-make lunchbox ideas for the little ones and their parents too.<\/p>\n
Monday<\/strong>: A peanut butter and jam sandwich with brown bread. To create a different taste, try using honey instead of jam.<\/p> Tuesday<\/strong>: Boiled eggs with mayonnaise on bread or pita. You can substitute the mayonnaise with plain Greek yogurt if you\u2019re watching your fat intake.<\/p>\n Wednesday<\/strong>: Greek salad with a twist.
