It has been many years since Primrose had its own boxing club, and it was this that made Louwrens Ellis decide to open the Primrose Open Boxing Academy.

“I believe there is a need for a boxing club in Primrose,” Ellis told the GCN.

“I previously coached at a club in Boksburg and decided to move from there to open a club here.”

The club can be found in Symhurst and Ellis hopes it will offer children, and adults, an opportunity to get fit in a healthy and encouraging environment.

“I hope it will keep children off the streets and give them a more productive way to spend their time,” he said.
