In reaction hereto, Meat World has issued the following press release:<\/p>\n

Meat World is conducting a thorough investigation into 14 of its stores across Gauteng, North West and Mpumalanga.<\/p>

Apart from a meat product recall in nine of their stores monitored by the programme for alleged selling of spoiled meat and relabelling of products to extend their sell-by date, the brand is considering defranchising some of its stores if the allegations are serious enough.<\/p>\n

In addition, Meat World has appointed leading forensic investigator Dr David Klatzow to analyse the lab report provided by Carte Blanche<\/em>.<\/p>

Dr Klatzow questioned the accuracy of the findings by the laboratory.<\/p>\n

He also states \u201cthe overall bacteriological results do not demonstrate a systemic problem\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meat World chief executive officer Angelino Pereira has appointed an independent health and safety organisation to conduct full health and safety audits on each of the stores.<\/p>\n

\u201cI took this immediate decision when I was made aware of these allegations.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy team and I are deeply perturbed by these allegations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will do everything we can to rectify any irregularities.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur customers are our family and we take their complaints to heart,\u201d says Pereira.<\/p>\n
