This comes after one of the players, Ntokozo Sibiya (13) told his father, Dumisa Fakudze who works at Komatsu Mining Corporation, about the club’s need for sponsorship.

“My son told me their club is in need of a number of things which included the training bibs,” said Fakudze.

“I then approached the company and they sponsored the bibs.”

Fakudze added they are looking at a long-term relationship with the club.

“Hopefully, as the relationship grows we will see what they lack and try and help where we can,” said Fakudze.

“We would like to make this an ongoing relationship as it keeps the children in the community active and focused on something good.”

The local club was established in February this year.

“We started with only seven players and have grown to 60 players in the seven months we have been in existence,” said the founder and head coach at the club, Tebogo Sithole-Mthiya.

“We cater for boys and girls from u-10 to u-17 and at the moment we only have one u-13 girls team.

“We are affiliated with the Germiston Local Football Association and have already played 15 games.”

The club has three other coaches assisting Sithole-Mthiya.

“Thulisile Nkabinde is the coach for the girl’s team while Andrew Sifo assists with the u-17s and Vuyo Mosalela is the u-15 coach,” said Sithole-Mthiya.

“I am thrilled with the excitement and dedication I see in the players. It is amazing.”

“The club continues to grow which shows interest from the children. They just need the tools and platform in order to play the sport they love and keep away from the streets,” said Fakudze.

“We appeal to other companies to get involved and assist where possible.”

ALSO READ:

Germiston start SAB League on a win

One win, one loss for Luso

Sithole-Mthiya agreed with Fakudze and said: “We are looking for a training venue because at the moment we train at a park situated on corner of Joubert and Galway Streets, in Airport Park.

“We want a more secure venue for the children and we are reaching out to individuals and companies to sponsor us with anything that will help the children continue playing the sport they love.

“We will appreciate any form of sponsorship.”

Sithole-Mthiya said more players are welcome to join the club which practices Monday to Friday from 4.30pm to 6pm.

For more information contact Sithole-Mthiya on 079 582 9715 or 076 540 6200.

Have a story?

Contact the newsroom by emailing: Melissa Hart (Editor) germistoncitynews@caxton.co.za, Leigh Hodgson (journalist) leighh@caxton.co.za or Puleng Sekabate (journalist) pulengs@caxton.co.za.

Remember to visit the Germiston City News on the following social media platforms:

Facebook

Twitter

Instagram

YouTube

Or add the GCN on WhatsApp 079 406 1181 or BBM (BBM Pin: 7F102137) today, to get all the latest news.

Catch-up on more local news with our sister newspapers Bedfordview Edenvale News, Alberton Record and Kempton Express.

![""]("https://germistoncitynews.co.za/wp-content/uploads/sites/31/2017/09/35GCNSPORTSKATSPS2_95986-520x390.jpg")
