Fun was had as community members showed their support for Raquel Barnard Stewart\u2019s fund-raiser held at Laerskool Die President, in Fishers\u2019 Hill, last Saturday.<\/p>\n

The event was aimed at raising funds for the four-year-old\u2019s medical bills for her much needed heart surgery.<\/p>

The event was organised by Daleen Vorster and Deon Hyman, the co-owners of Celebrino EventOvasion.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe knew we had to help the family raise the steep amount needed for the surgery,\u201d said Daleen.<\/p>

\u201cWe took it upon ourselves to organise a fund-raising event and it took a month to put everything together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Daleen was pleased with the day\u2019s turnout.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to the community members for coming together and supporting this great initiative,\u201d said Daleen.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a good turnout and we appreciate it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Raquel\u2019s grandmother, Sandra Barnard, was humbled by the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cDaleen has been really amazing. If it wasn\u2019t for her, this day wouldn\u2019t have been possible,\u201d said Sandra.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am overwhelmed by the amount of support we received from the community – it is truly amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The audience was entertained by music organised by local artist Tommy Gloss.<\/p>\n

Tommy entertained the crowd and organised the band and more local artists.<\/p>\n

Children were also well entertained by the jumping castles and fun activities available on the day.<\/p>\n

Daleen said they wouldn\u2019t have been able to organise the event without the help of her team.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to the amazing staff,\u201d said Daleen.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to the team at Hyundai Germiston who helped sponsor the event.<\/p>\n

“We appreciate all the stallholders as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur greatest gratitude goes to the school for allowing us to utilise their facilities at no charge.<\/p>\n

Raffles and auctions were among the activities. The day also saw a cake, with Raquel\u2019s face on it, being auctioned. It was baked by Verny Turton.<\/p>\n

The amount raised on the fun-filled day is R35 000.<\/p>\n
