paddlers learn the ropes from their experienced counterparts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Victoria Lake Canoe Club (VLC) based at Germiston Lake has hosted a number of river races to provide opportunities for paddlers to gain stamina and endurance as they build up their mileage and prepare for the ICF World Marathon Championships that will take place in South Africa later this year.<\/p>\n<p>Novices (first-year paddlers) also require a certain number of points in order to enjoy A-grade rivers and experienced paddlers frequently team up with the newbies to help them learn and gain knowledge, skill and ability.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Craig Johnston, an experienced A-grade paddler with a number of Dusi\u2019s to his credit is enjoying introducing his young daughter Jade to the exciting adrenaline-filled sport of canoeing.<\/p>\n<p>Both are members of VLC.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>She has already earned three points towards her A-grade status and they are looking forward to the wild, white water of the Fish River Marathon, later this year, in Cradock.<\/p>\n<p>The pair recently took part in a race on the Klip River, from Daleside to Meyerton, organised by VLC.<\/p>\n<p>They finished the 30km race in a
