phases out tenant accounts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To minimise the risk of accumulated service debt on customers\u2019 property, the metro, will from July 1, commence with phasing out tenant accounts for properties and place them in the name of the property owner.<\/p>\n<p>This will be phased in over an 18-month period and will ensure the owner has full control and management of the property and services rendered.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Property owners must arrange to close linked tenant accounts within this period and ensure that all monies owed by tenants, in respect of services accounts, are paid or transferred to the owner\u2019s account.<\/p>\n<p>Should the owner not arrange for the closure of tenant accounts within the stipulated period of 18 months, services to the property may be disconnected.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Reinstatement of services will result in the owner being required to enter into a new service level agreement and an increased deposit will have to be paid.<\/p>\n<p>Residential tenant accounts will only be allowed where the person occupying the property qualifies for indigent support in respect of the Indigent Support Policy and administrators of child-headed households.<\/p>\n<p>This also applies in cases where accounts are under legal administration, liquidation, sequestration or deceased estates.<\/p>\n<p>The detailed phasing out process is available at all Customer Care Centres.<\/p>\n<p>Comments with regards to the process may be submitted in writing to Revenue, Private Bag X66, Benoni, 1500, before June
