this the next Legal Eagle on offer at the 2017 National Yearling Sale?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of South Africa\u2019s top thoroughbred nurseries, Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm has sold many top class performers off the National Yearling Sale.<\/p>\n<p>None has been better, however, than South Africa\u2019s reigning Horse of the Year Legal Eagle, who was knocked down for R425 000 at the 2013 national sale.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>This has proven a great bargain buy, with Legal Eagle having gone on to earn more than R8 600 000 in prize money, with the champion having scored yet another major victory when he lead all the way to win the G1 H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes on Classic Day at Turffontein, recently.<\/p>\n<p>Owned by Mayfair Speculators, and trained by Sean Tarry, Legal Eagle (a triple Equus Award winner) has now won 10 of 17 outings, with no fewer than six of his wins having come at G1 level.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Avontuur will offer 10 quality lots at this year\u2019s National Yearling Sale, due to take place in Germiston from May 3 to 5.<\/p>\n<p>Their draft includes yearlings by such top sires as Dynasty, Oratorio and Var.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Avontuur NYS draft includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lot 90 \u2013a filly by resident sire Oratorio out of Jet Master\u2019s six time stakes winning daughter Pan Amm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This filly is from one of the best families in the stud book, with her relatives including Irish 2000 Guineas winner Roderic O\u2019Connor and Arc winning mother and son, Detroit and Carnegie<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lot 91 \u2013a colt by proven G1 sire Oratorio out of a half-sister to Equus Champion and young sire The Apache, who earned more than R17-million on the track.<\/li>\n<li>Lot 159 \u2013an Oratorio half-sister to three winners, whose second dam is a G1 daughter of champion two-year-old and world leading sire and broodmare sire Storm Bird.<\/li>\n<li>Lot 269 \u2013a Var full brother to an impressive debut winner and a three parts brother to G1 filly Schiffer and Dubai winner Mastermind.<\/li>\n<li>Lot 298 \u2013a Var half-brother to three top class stakes horses, out of ten time G3 winner Azabu Park.<\/li>\n<li>Lot 324 \u2013a Var own sister to G2 two-year-old Vous Et Var, from the same family as multiple G1 winner Bint Pasha.<\/li>\n<li>Lot 327 \u2013by outstanding sire Dynasty, this colt is a three parts brother to Dynasty\u2019s great champion Beach Beauty, whose 17 career wins included five at G1 level.<\/li>\n<li>Lot 386 \u2013by leading sire Var, this filly is out of a stakes winning Rock Of Gibraltar half-sister to G1 winner Arlington Boulevard, from the family of numerous international G1 winners.<\/li>\n<li>Lot 469 \u2013this colt by dual Italian champion sire Oratorio is out of a winning Jet Master sister to G3 Acacia Handicap winner Off The Mark and G1 two-year-old Sport\u2019s Coach, from the same family as Horse of the Year Horse Chestnut, this colt\u2019s second dam won the G1 Cape Fillies Guineas.<\/li>\n<li>Lot 490 \u2013by European champion and four time G1 winner Twice Over, this filly is out of a winning half-sister to a G3 winner and to the dam
