A local business owner was furious when his property was left without power for five days.<\/p>\n
Danie Coetzee, owner of Price and Pack in Maritz Street in Elsburg, explained to the Germiston City News that the power supply to his business and four others in the street was interrupted recently.<\/p>
\u201cWe have been without power for five days,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is having a negative impact on my business and my ability to keep my company\u2019s doors open and the business operational.\u201d<\/p>
Despite daily calls to the metro, he claimed, nothing had been done and the business owners had been given no clear reason for the outage, or feedback as to when the power would be restored.<\/p>\n
The GCN sent a query to the metro to find out what the cause of the outage was, when the power would be restored and why the businesses had been left without power for so long.<\/p>\n
The metro\u2019s spokesman, Themba Gadebe, responded to the query.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe outage was caused by a stolen neutral switch at the sub-station, but this was repaired on the same day.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter this an electrical fault was discovered at Price and Pack in Maritz Street – this was established in conjunction with the complainant\u2019s private electrician.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause the metro\u2019s technicians couldn\u2019t get access to the property for several days the power remained off,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The power was later restored and operation of the business returned to normal.<\/p>\n
