{"id":145342,"date":"2017-02-23T08:45:00","date_gmt":"2017-02-23T06:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/145342\/model-embarks-on-her-journey\/"},"modified":"2017-02-23T14:55:53","modified_gmt":"2017-02-23T12:55:53","slug":"model-embarks-on-her-journey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2017\/02\/23\/model-embarks-on-her-journey\/","title":{"rendered":"Model embarks on her journey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>She is young, beautiful and determined to take the modelling industry by storm.<\/p>\n<p>Xolelwa Bentele (22) has always dreamed of being a professional model and it seems her dream is slowly becoming a reality.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Xolelwa recently entered a modelling competition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen my application for the competition was approved and accepted, I was lost for words,\u201d she said.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI know it is still the early stages but the acceptance made a big difference to me and it has really motivated me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although Xolelwa has always wanted to become a model, she first had to gain confidence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had the desire to be a model but lacked the confidence when I was a child,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have a curvy body shape and thought modelling was not meant for people like me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy mom and friends helped me get my confidence back as they always used to encourage me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Tedstoneville resident also said that having her whole family\u2019s support means a lot to her.<\/p>\n<p>When she gained her confidence she began modelling at various fashion shows.<\/p>\n<p>Xolelwa also loves working with people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI enjoy engaging with people, especially children and young girls,\u201d said Xolelwa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI see myself owning a care centre where I will motivate, encourage and advise young girls to follow their dreams and work hard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI visit and volunteer at a number of centres and homes whenever possible. I enjoy getting involved in community projects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Xolelwa hopes to bag a number of pageant titles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am also looking to enter a number of pageants like Miss Jozi that is set to take place later in the year,\u201d Xolelwa explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope for a fruitful journey ahead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy advice to aspiring models is you can still become successful no matter where you come from.
