{"id":140326,"date":"2016-12-08T08:49:00","date_gmt":"2016-12-08T06:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/140326\/easy-to-make-diy-room-divider-and-shelf-in-one\/"},"modified":"2016-12-08T08:49:00","modified_gmt":"2016-12-08T06:49:00","slug":"easy-to-make-diy-room-divider-and-shelf-in-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/lifestyle-news\/2016\/12\/08\/easy-to-make-diy-room-divider-and-shelf-in-one\/","title":{"rendered":"Easy-to-make DIY room divider and shelf in one"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This simple DIY projectcan be completed in three easy steps and in about five hours, excluding drying time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The list of materials needed for this DIY project are:<\/strong><\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Eight old wooden fruit crates.<\/li>\n<li>A bucket of white acrylic paint, masking paper or film for covering the painting area.<\/li>\n<li>Three 16 T10 torx flat-head chipboard screws.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>You will require the following tools:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A multi-sander with a five-piece sanding sheet set for multi-sanders.<\/li>\n<li>A 3000-2 fine-spray system and a cordless screwdriver.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong><br \/>\nTo begin with, sand the fruit crates lightly using the multi-sander and five-piece sanding sheet set. This will remove any extraneous material on the wood and prepare the surface for the paint application.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong><br \/>\nPaint the fruit crates inside and outside with at least two coats of white acrylic paint, using the fine-spray system. Leave the paint to dry thoroughly. Remember to cover the painting area beforehand with masking paper or film in order to prevent any accidental paint spillages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong><br \/>\nStack the fruit crates in a design of your choice, making sure they are balanced properly.
