{"id":140105,"date":"2016-12-07T08:35:00","date_gmt":"2016-12-07T06:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/140105\/lambton-cpfs-guimbra-activates-zebra-rescue\/"},"modified":"2016-12-07T15:44:59","modified_gmt":"2016-12-07T13:44:59","slug":"lambton-cpfs-guimbra-activates-zebra-rescue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2016\/12\/07\/lambton-cpfs-guimbra-activates-zebra-rescue\/","title":{"rendered":"Zebra finds a new home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The beautiful zebra who was found running in the streets of Germiston, last Monday, has been set free.<\/p>\n<p>After being taken to a boma on a wildlife conservancy in the south of Johannesburg, she stayed there under veterinary observation until she had recovered.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Then, last Wednesday afternoon, the mare was released to join an existing herd of zebra currently on the conservancy.<\/p>\n<p>Arno de Klerk, an inspector from the NSPCA\u2019s Wildlife Protection Unit, who was involved in her capture, was pleased that she had been released.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>He also told the GCN that details of the matter were relayed at the outset to Gauteng Nature Conservation, who gave a general undertaking to go out and look for the animal but to date, there has been no record of any Nature Conservation official attending or taking any form of action that could have assisted the zebra.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lack of assistance from Gauteng Nature Conservation is noted with grave concern.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are government-funded.
