{"id":137871,"date":"2016-11-10T10:38:37","date_gmt":"2016-11-10T08:38:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/?p=137871"},"modified":"2016-11-10T10:38:37","modified_gmt":"2016-11-10T08:38:37","slug":"electricity-cable-no-longer-a-threat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2016\/11\/10\/electricity-cable-no-longer-a-threat\/","title":{"rendered":"Electricity cable no longer a threat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An exposed electricity cable in Wadeville caused panic in Christian Dupre.<\/p>\n<p>According to Dupre the cable had been exposed since August.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe minute I noticed the cable, I reported it to the metro telephonically,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMetro workers came to attend to it but upon their departure I discovered that the cable wasn\u2019t completely covered.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI then went to the customer care centre to report it again as at some point smoke was coming from the cable, which is extremely dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dupre said his complaint seemed to fall on deaf ears as the cable remained uncovered.<\/p>\n<p>The GCN contacted the metro in an effort to resolve the problem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reported electricity cable has been covered,\u201d said the metro\u2019s spokesman, Themba Gadebe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was no smoke witnessed while the team was covering the cable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dupre confirmed that the metro\u2019s second trip was successful in covering the cable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am happy that the metro eventually heeded my call for the cable to be repaired;
