{"id":135133,"date":"2016-10-12T08:55:00","date_gmt":"2016-10-12T06:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/135133\/young-man-with-a-passion-for-fashion\/"},"modified":"2016-10-12T15:36:10","modified_gmt":"2016-10-12T13:36:10","slug":"young-man-with-a-passion-for-fashion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2016\/10\/12\/young-man-with-a-passion-for-fashion\/","title":{"rendered":"Young man with a passion for fashion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mlondi Nxumalo (19) recently discovered his passion for fashion \u2013 and what a passion it is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be honest, when I was younger I never cared about clothes, it was all about shoes for me.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIf I had the right shoes I didn\u2019t care about anything else.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year, however, I discovered my love for fashion and style and realised that your personal style and your choice in fashion are vastly important in making a good first impression,\u201d he explained when he visited the GCN offices, on Wednesday.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>During his visit the young stylist didn\u2019t share only his hopes for the future, he also shared his top three tips for summer.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Styled by Zwide\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lTcbmsntTwA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Mlondi, who works under the name Zwide, was born in KwaZulu-Natal and moved to Dinwiddie when he was just three years old.<\/p>\n<p>He attended Dinwiddie Primary and Dinwiddie High School, before enrolling in the Vaal University of Technology to pursue his love for graphic design, with which he fell in love at the tender age of 13.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is my first year in varsity and the real world has opened my eyes; when I dress well people notice and respond to me and I fell in love with that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mlondi and his friends, Thatohatsi Mandindi (19) and Thando Ngobese (20), have decided to harness their creative talents and are developing a \u201clook book\u201d called \u201cSummer 16\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur look book will be filled with all the must-haves and trendiest looks for summer,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>When asked what he loves about fashion he was a little lost for words.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not just fashion; the way I see it is there is a whole science to it; sounds crazy I know,\u201d he said with a laugh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love all forms of art and fashion brings together patterns and colour schemes, old and new, into something you can wear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mlondi went on to explain that he loves to create his own style, he even designs his own clothes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to be a trendsetter, never a follower,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He was inspired to take the leap from fashion-lover to trendsetter and stylist by The Threaded Man, one of the biggest online fashion bloggers in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat he has achieved and is still achieving inspires me to keep pushing, because I believe I have it in me to do the same and more,\u201d Mlondi said.<\/p>\n<p>He also draws inspiration from local models and brand ambassadors, as well as international celebrities and style icons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got tired of sitting at home watching people my age doing these incredible things.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew it was time to start working towards my own dreams,\u201d Mlondi said.<\/p>\n<p>Asked about his ultimate dream, he didn\u2019t mince his words, saying: \u201cI want to meet Kanye West.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn top of that I want to be both the man behind the scenes pulling the strings and in front of the camera.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to take the world by storm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He believes the sky is the limit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the short term I would love to work with powerhouse brands like Levis and Adidas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know it sounds like a lot, but I know that, with hard work, dreams do come true.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You can find Mlondi on Instagram @swide_omkhulu or read more of his fashion advice on his blog, Styled by Zwide: http:\/\/styledbyzwide.wixsite.com\/website-3.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_135135\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-135135\" style=\"width: 520px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2016\/10\/41GCNGENERALSTYL_37560.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-135135 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2016\/10\/41GCNGENERALSTYL_37560-520x390.jpg\" alt=\"Nineteen-year-old Mlondi Nxumalo, from Dinwiddie, plans to take the world by storm with his unique style and passion for fashion.
