Media support for awareness of the campaign will be provided by the SABC, Caxton, Independent Newspapers and Media24.

This year, there is a particular focus on adolescent girls and young women as part of the National Department of Health’s strategic plan.

The campaign will fast-track efforts to empower young people, especially adolescent girls and women.

High HIV incidence in young women and girls is compounded by high levels of teenage pregnancy, school dropout, and gender based violence, and occurs in a context where there are limited economic opportunities for young people.

If you would like to get involved with Rotary Family Health Days, go to rfha.org.za and click on “How to volunteer”.

Simply fill in the form and Rotary will contact you.

This year, the aim is to reach 100 000 people.

Rotary Family Health Days will be held at 110 sites across South Africa.

Free services offered include:

TB screening and testing.

HIV counseling and testing.

Vitamin A supplementation and healthy lifestyle information.

Immunisation (please remember to bring your child’s immunisation card).

Health screening (blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and others).

Educational material on Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C on some sites and more.

Find out more by calling *120 * 7434# or contacting the helpline on 0800 012 322 for your nearest site details.

You can also go to rfha.org.za for more information.

Other articles you may be interested in:

New presidents at Germiston Rotary

[7,2
2297,12546,979,969,2734,1457,3190
post-135065","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-news","category-news-headlines","tag-department-of-health","tag-free-health-checks","tag-germiston","tag-germiston-city-news","tag-melissa-hart","tag-rotary","tag-rotary-family-health-days
["department of health","free health checks","germiston","germiston city news","melissa hart","Rotary","Rotary Family Health Days.
["GET
