Sixty-five EMPD officers descended on the streets of Germiston, on Tuesday, in search of unroadworthy vehicles.<\/p>\n

The operation took place between 6am and 2pm.<\/p>

\u201cSixty vehicles suspected of being unroadworthy were taken through to the Alrode Testing Station, where 41 of them failed the roadworthy test and three were candidates for impounding,\u201d said Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago, spokesman for the EMPD.<\/p>\n

A mini bus is taken through the test.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The 41 vehicles which failed the roadworthy test were issued with discontinued notices, which mean their vehicle licences were confiscated and they have to pass a roadworthy test.<\/p>

The discontinued vehicles included 12 public passenger vehicles, 25 private vehicles, three small trucks and one tractor.<\/p>\n

Three vehicles \u2013 two private vehicles and one truck \u2013 found to be in a dismal state, were impounded.<\/p>\n

The three impounded vehicles were taken to the EMPD Alberton pound and will only be released on payment of towing and storage fees.<\/p>\n
