In May 2004, Sasonah Lodge opened its doors in Lambton.<\/p>\n
The centre cares for Alzheimer\u2019s, Parkinson\u2019s, cancer and frail care patients, and offers around-the-clock nursing care, as well as home-based care.<\/p>
\u201cSasonah Lodge is a home away from home, where we try our utmost to eliminate the clinical type of environment and allow our patients to do as they would do in their own homes,\u201d explained owner Sister Colleen Nunn.<\/p>\n
However, this type of care comes at a price and due to circumstances beyond the centre\u2019s control they find themselves in need of help.<\/p>
\u201cWe are not subsidised by the government and, therefore, rely on our patient\u2019s families, as well as donations from companies to assist us throughout the month.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very fortunate to receive food donations from several stakeholders, but, sadly, we cannot pay bills with food donations,\u201d said Colleen.<\/p>\n
The home currently has 19 patients.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are relatively unknown, even though we have been open for 12 years,\u201d said Colleen.<\/p>\n
Sasonah Lodge is dedicated to helping others, but to continue to do this they need the support of the community.<\/p>\n
