the moment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8221;A picture is worth a thousand words.&#8221; This is a belief that Katlehong photographer Arabang Moteetee (27) holds dear.<\/p>\n<p>Arabang first fell in love with photography while he was in Cape Town, studying film.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI was studying film when they showed us a documentary on photography.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love film, but it can\u2019t capture the emotion or tell a story like photography can,\u201d he explained.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Thus began his six-year journey as a photographer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI started with fashion photography, but have moved more into documentary photography.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want my photos to tell a story,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Now Arabang wants to bring his passion to his own community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to introduce photography to the people of the townships, as I believe it is still a relatively unknown or understood medium,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>It is with this in mind that Arabang will attempt a 15-hour <a href=\"https:\/\/mobile.facebook.com\/events\/1759440327610953?acontext=%7B%22ref%22%3A2%2C%22ref_dashboard_filter%22%3A%22hosting%22%2C%22action_history%22%3A%22%5B%7B%5C%22surface%5C%22%3A%5C%22dashboard%5C%22%2C%5C%22mechanism%5C%22%3A%5C%22surface%5C%22%2C%5C%22extra_data%5C%22%3A%7B%5C%22dashboard_filter%5C%22%3A%5C%22hosting%5C%22%7D%7D%5D%22%7D&amp;aref=2&amp;arefdashboardfilter=hosting\" target=\"_blank\">photoshoot and photo expo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition and record attempt will be held on Saturday, August 27, and will run from 11am to 2am.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNobody has previously attempted to achieve this,\u201d he explained excitedly.<\/p>\n<p>On the day, Arabang will set up a studio at 7 Car Park, in Siluma View, Katlehong, where he will take portrait photographs of guests attending the event officially named \u201cPhotography in our Life Time\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Arabang will also display his work alongside fellow photographers Dineo Mnyanga and Sikelela Balintulo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will showcase photographs that paint the picture of living in South Africa,\u201d Arabang explained.<\/p>\n<p>Guests will also be treated to live music and have the chance to make their mark at the event, by signing a poly-mesh cloth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe plan to donate the cloth to the Africa Museum in Johannesburg after the event,\u201d Arabang said.<\/p>\n<p>For more
