The South African Weather Service has issued a number of warnings throughout the country today as widespread showers and thundershowers are expected to continue.<\/p>\n

Temperatures are also expected to remain in the low teens until Thursday.<\/p>

Hailstorms were reported in a number of areas in Gauteng yesterday with reports of flooding in and around Durban\u00a0and heavy snow fall in the Free State and Eastern Cape.<\/p>\n

Other warnings included:<\/strong><\/p>

  • Severe Thunderstorms<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Severe thunderstorms with strong winds, hail and heavy downpours are\u00a0possible\u00a0from noon\u00a0to 11pm.<\/p>\n

    • Flooding<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Localised urban flooding is expected with special focus on the City of Tshwane and other low lying areas.<\/p>\n

      • Heavy rain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Is expected in various parts of Gauteng throughout the day.<\/p>\n

        Residents are urged to take precautions when travelling in wet weather by reducing their speed, keeping their lights on and maintaining a safe following distance.<\/p>\n

        Vehicles and animals should also have appropriate shelter during this time.<\/p>\n

        East Rand residents have already experienced heavy rain fall and hail on their commute this morning, with misty conditions prevailing.<\/p>\n
