The proclamation also listed sporting events, theatres and concerts in white areas from which blacks were barred. It was made 15 years after the Group Areas Act was promulgated.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/albertonrecord.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2016\/02\/apartheid-signs-in-south-africa-1956_jpg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-95966\" src=\"https:\/\/albertonrecord.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2016\/02\/apartheid-signs-in-south-africa-1956_jpg.jpg\" alt=\"apartheid-signs-in-south-africa-1956_jpg\" width=\"491\" height=\"365\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The apartheid system had been designed to separate South Africans along racial lines. This was mostly done to promote white superiority and to establish the minority white regime at the expense of the black majority of the country.
