topped metros in Gauteng\u2019s largest quality of life survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Released last Tuesday, the fourth Quality of Life survey indicated a consistent increase in satisfaction pertaining to basic services, such as energy and water, among others, in Ekurhuleni.<\/p>\n<p>The increase is noted from the beginning of the current administration, in 2011.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The 2015 Gauteng City Region Observatory Quality of Life (GCRO QoL) survey revealed that more than 70 per cent of Ekurhuleni residents are generally satisfied with the provision of services in the metro.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Over 80 per cent of residents are satisfied with water services.<\/li>\n<li>More than 70 per cent of residents have given the city a thumbs up on sanitation services.<\/li>\n<li>More than 70 per cent of residents are happy with the provision of energy services.<\/li>\n<li>About 80 per cent are content with the provision of waste removal services.<\/li>\n<li>While about 49 per cent are satisfied with the costs of the municipality, 22 per cent have remained neutral.<\/li>\n<li>About 60 per cent of residents have given the metro\u2019s roads a nod.<\/li>\n<li>Over 68 per cent are happy with the metro\u2019s public health facilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ekurhuleni\u2019s city manager, Khaya Ngema, said: \u201cWhile this is evidence that the metro is heading in the right direction, more is still required to be done in order to attend to the concerns of the few who were not happy.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cAs we go into the new financial year, all hands are on deck from our senior managers and staff to deliver to the people of Ekurhuleni the ideal metro which they have expressed they wanted in the Integrated Development Plan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>GCRO was commissioned in 2009 to analyse the quality of life of citizens, identify key areas and groups needing intervention and support, and to provide a holistic assessment of life in the Gauteng city region.<\/p>\n<p>The Quality of Life
