Ekurhuleni\u2019s MMC for roads and transport, Clr Petrus Mhlari, officially opened the new R12.7-million taxi rank in Palm Ridge, on Friday.<\/p>\n

The facility is part of the metro\u2019s vision of modernising the townships by investing in and growing infrastructure resources, which will directly improve the lives of residents.<\/p>

Palm Ridge resident Sarafina Maseko uses public transport from the township to Germiston on a daily basis and was extremely excited about the opening of the taxi rank.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a dream come true; waiting for taxis in the open veld was the worst experience, especially in summer when it rains,” she said.<\/p>

\u201cThe heavy rains and muddy surfaces made it hard to enjoy travelling on public transport.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow I\u2019m glad we have a well-paved taxi rank and loading bays with shelter.\u201d<\/p>\n
