Solstice Swim a success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) Station 27 braved the cold and participated in the Winter Solstice Swim challenge.<\/p>\n<p>The brief, icy dip took place at Germiston Lake, on June 21.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cToday is the shortest day and the longest night of the year and, to celebrate, people in different parts of the world mark this day by taking part in this challenge,\u201d said NSRI Station 27\u2019s training officer, Gerhard Potgieter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had 11 of our members taking part in the swim.\u201d<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Potgieter also said that the challenge is a brief 50m swim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a short swim and it was really great, except that I can\u2019t feel my toes,\u201d joked Potgieter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a great
