There were uncertainties around the exact year of his death, but it was finally established that the exact date was 18 April 1905. The African National Congress launched his hymn into prominence as an anthem of black struggle against oppression seven years after his death.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/albertonrecord.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2016\/04\/enoch.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-103877\" src=\"https:\/\/albertonrecord.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2016\/04\/enoch.jpg\" alt=\"enoch\" width=\"518\" height=\"311\" \/><\/a><\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Sontonga&#8217;s grave was unknown until the City of Johannesburg invited city officials, archaeologists and historians to locate it.
