{"id":117786,"date":"2016-04-08T08:30:00","date_gmt":"2016-04-08T06:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/117786\/man-misuses-council-vehicle\/"},"modified":"2016-04-08T14:32:06","modified_gmt":"2016-04-08T12:32:06","slug":"man-misuses-council-vehicle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/news-headlines\/2016\/04\/08\/man-misuses-council-vehicle\/","title":{"rendered":"Metro employee lands pal in hot water over use of vehicle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A metro employee and his pal have landed in hot water after their actions were monitored by the EMPD.<\/p>\n<p>An official white, unmarked VW Golf issued to the metro customer relations management employee, who is based in Alberton, was confiscated by EMPD Community Liaison Unit members at 11.30am, on Wednesday.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The person found driving the vehicle claimed that he was the employee\u2019s friend.<\/p>\n<p>The employee was picked up from his home and he and his pal were taken to the Germiston Police Station for questioning.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cFollowing information received about the employee\u2019s abuse of the council vehicle, the EMPD monitored the vehicle for a period of a week,\u201d said Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago, spokesman for the EMPD.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArmed with the evidence of the abuse of the vehicle, the metro police closed in on the vehicle at the intersection of Osborn and Van Dyk roads, in Wadeville, on Wednesday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The driver, who was not supposed to be behind the wheel of the council-owned vehicle, claimed that the employee had asked him to drive to a garage to check the tyre pressure of the Golf.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt also emerged that the tracker system fitted in the VW Golf had been interfered with and was not functioning the way it should,&#8221;
