The company started as an ensemble of only seven dancers, plus their choreographer, and many guest choreographers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/albertonrecord.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2016\/03\/Corbis-HU001239.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-101223\" src=\"https:\/\/albertonrecord.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/35\/2016\/03\/Corbis-HU001239.jpg\" alt=\"Dance Company Perform During Rehearsal\" width=\"640\" height=\"436\" \/><\/a><\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Following their first performance, which included Alvin Ailey&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Blues Suite<\/em>, the company travelled on what were known as the &#8220;station wagon tours&#8221;.
