With the heatwave currently being experienced across several parts of the country, ER24 is urging people to be cautious.<\/p>\n
Many people are still on holiday and out and about.<\/p>
They are urged to reconsider their plans if it involves being outdoors for long periods of time.<\/p>\n
ER24 has attended to incidents over the past few weeks involving people who were affected by the heat.<\/p>
Just recently a woman suffering from heatstroke had to be airlifted off Table Mountain by Skymed.<\/p>\n
Metro Rescue technicians went up the mountain to where the woman was and found her in a critical condition.<\/p>\n
She was treated, stabilised and airlifted back down where she was handed over to ER24 paramedics.<\/p>\n
People are urged to remember that heat exhaustion can lead to serious complications.<\/p>\n
Severe heat exhaustion could lead to heatstroke and that may, in turn, result in a person losing consciousness, experiencing seizures or going into cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n
ER24 is urging people to monitor those who are experiencing a severe headache, weakness or disorientation, muscle cramps, nausea or vomiting or severe thirst.<\/p>\n
Symptoms may also include the absence of sweating due to dehydration and confusion.<\/p>\n
If these symptoms persist, medical assistance should be sought as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
