{"id":107337,"date":"2015-12-24T07:34:00","date_gmt":"2015-12-24T05:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/107337\/juicy-tidbits-christmas-traditions\/"},"modified":"2015-12-07T09:46:24","modified_gmt":"2015-12-07T07:46:24","slug":"juicy-tidbits-christmas-traditions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/opinion-edition\/2015\/12\/24\/juicy-tidbits-christmas-traditions\/","title":{"rendered":"Juicy tidbits &#8211; Christmas traditions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year, well for the most part.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t enjoy the packed malls or Christmas carols playing on a loop, but I love the food, the presents (both giving and receiving) and ,most of all, the time with family.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>At our home we celebrate Christmas the same way every year; we wake up early and open gifts with tea, coffee and hot chocolate.<\/p>\n<p>We then have a traditional family lunch, with everyone helping to cook something.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>I wanted to find out how other people celebrate Christmas so posted the question on Facebook.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kim Walton: \u201cWaking up early, having a cup of Horlics in my special Christmas mug with a piece of Christmas cake while opening presents, that\u2019s our Christmas tradition.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Angelica Bilro: \u201cWe wake up early to open presents and then have a traditional lunch. The most important thing is we are together as a family.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Caron Thomas: \u201cOur most important Christmas tradition is to spend time together as a family.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Michelle Jordan: \u201cWe always go to church, then spend the rest of the day with family, nibbling from a cold meat and salad platter.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Charmaine Buttrick: \u201cWhen I was a child we used to stay up till midnight to open presents.
