{"id":104415,"date":"2015-11-10T12:21:26","date_gmt":"2015-11-10T10:21:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/?p=104415"},"modified":"2015-11-11T14:47:05","modified_gmt":"2015-11-11T12:47:05","slug":"waterless-cooking-during-a-water-shortage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/lifestyle-news\/2015\/11\/10\/waterless-cooking-during-a-water-shortage\/","title":{"rendered":"Waterless cooking during a water shortage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although you may be taking shorter showers, not washing your car or filling your pool, there is another way to save on water, waterless cooking.<br \/>\nBelow are some recipes that do not require water.<\/p>\n<p><b>Rosemary potatoes<\/b><br \/>\nYou will need:<br \/>\n* One tablespoon olive oil.<br \/>\n* One tablespoon butter.<br \/>\n* One tablespoon rosemary.<br \/>\n* One teaspoon thyme.<br \/>\n* Half a red pepper, cubed.<br \/>\n* Half an onion, quartered.<br \/>\n* Four large baking potatoes, cut into cubes.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>What to do:<br \/>\nIn a pot, melt butter in olive oil over medium heat. Add all ingredients and toss to coat.<br \/>\nCover and reduce heat to medium-low, form the vapour seal, and cook about 40 minutes, turning gently after 20 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><b>Oven roasted cauliflower<\/b><br \/>\nYou will need:<br \/>\n* One head cauliflower, trimmed and cut into florets.<br \/>\n* Three large cloves garlic, thinly sliced.<br \/>\n* A quarter cup olive oil.<br \/>\n* Two tablespoons lemon juice.<br \/>\n* Half a teaspoon salt.<br \/>\n* A quarter teaspoon ground black pepper.<br \/>\n* Two tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>What to do:<br \/>\nPreheat an oven 230 degrees Celsius<br \/>\nMix cauliflower florets and garlic in a large bowl. Drizzle olive oil and lemon juice over the cauliflower mixture; season with salt and pepper. Toss cauliflower mixture to coat and spread into an even layer onto a pan.<br \/>\nRoast in preheated oven for about 15 minutes, turn the cauliflower, and continue roasting until soft, about 10 minute more. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the cauliflower to serve.<\/p>\n<p><b>Chicken breasts with tomatoes and olives<\/b><br \/>\nYou will need:<br \/>\n* Four skinless, boneless chicken breast halves.<br \/>\n* One cup cherry tomatoes, halved.<br \/>\n* Three tablespoons oil and vinegar dressing.<br \/>\n* 20 olives, halved.<br \/>\n* Half a crumbled feta cheese.<\/p>\n<p>What to do:<br \/>\nPreheat your oven to a medium-high heat. Sprinkle chicken evenly with a quarter teaspoon salt and freshly ground black pepper.<br \/>\nPlace chicken in an oven-proof dish and coat with cooking spray, and cook for six minutes on each side or until chicken is done. Keep warm.<br \/>\nCombine tomatoes, one and a half tablespoons dressing, and olives in a pan over medium heat, and cook for two minutes or until tomatoes soften slightly and mixture is thoroughly heated, stirring occasionally.<br \/>\nBrush chicken with remaining one and a half tablespoons dressing. Cut each chicken breast half into slices. Top each chicken breast half with quarter cup tomato mixture.
