{"id":102306,"date":"2015-10-15T09:10:00","date_gmt":"2015-10-15T07:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/102306\/school-children-enjoy-great-day-out-at-turffontein\/"},"modified":"2015-10-15T09:27:28","modified_gmt":"2015-10-15T07:27:28","slug":"school-children-enjoy-great-day-out-at-turffontein","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/develop.citizen.co.za\/germiston-city-news\/sports-news\/2015\/10\/15\/school-children-enjoy-great-day-out-at-turffontein\/","title":{"rendered":"School children enjoy great day out at Turffontein"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thirty students from Nageng Primary School, in Vosloorus, were treated to a fun day at Turffontein Racecourse, last Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>This was part of the build-up to this year\u2019s Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>Assisted by the Peermont Children\u2019s Trust, Nageng Primary School is one of the 16 chosen charities which will win a share of R1-million when 16 horses take to the track on October 31.<\/p>\n<p>The Peermont Children\u2019s Trust supports ten schools in the Gauteng area through the provision of school uniforms every year, providing hot meals daily for all pupils, handing out food parcels for the school holidays, building jungle gyms and hosting an annual Christmas party.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>The majority of these schools are in very underprivileged areas with many children being orphaned and malnourished.<\/p>\n<p>The trust also assists with aftercare programmes and homework, enabling the pupils to improve their academic results and school attendance.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_102307\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-102307\" style=\"width: 520px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2015\/10\/42GCNSPORTRACEMH1_07061.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-102307\" src=\"https:\/\/germistoncitynews.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/31\/2015\/10\/42GCNSPORTRACEMH1_07061-520x390.jpg\" alt=\"947 Highveld Stereo DJ Alex Caige and the beautiful Amanda du Pont, two of the well known personalities who will be adding some glitz and glamour to the annual Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile being run at Turffontein Racecourse on October 31. It\u2019s a rush and hopefully it will make a difference for the charities and those they support,\u201d Caige said.<\/p>\n<p>Amanda du Pont has been involved in the Charity Mile for four years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a very glamourous event, but more importantly it raises much needed funds for these schools and children.
