Residents of Lambton are becoming increasingly concerned with a house on the corner of Webber and Chapman roads.<\/p>\n

Several residents have call the GCN and reported that the house has been abandoned for months and is now being occupied by vagrants.<\/p>

The house is also reportedly being used by criminals.<\/p>\n

Residents do not feel safe and want to know what, if anything, can be done about the house and its new occupants.<\/p>

The GCN has contact both the metro and the Germiston SAPS regarding the house.<\/p>\n

WO Andr\u00e9 de Jager, spokesman for the Germiston SAPS, said: \u201cI have been through all the crime stats for the last two weeks and no crime was committed in and or around the abandoned house.\u201d<\/p>\n

Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro, said: \u201cAn inspection was conducted recently at the house.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe premises is not overgrown or in bad condition.<\/p>\n

\u201cA contractor has been appointed to cut and remove the overgrown grass and weeds in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

No comment was made on the vagrants reportedly living in the house.<\/p>\n

Ward councillor Chris Swanepoel said, “The matter<\/p>\n

is in hand and will be finalised in the near future.<\/p>\n

“Sufficient to<\/p>\n

say, the metro departments are working on the matter and assisting the public in trying to finalise the matter in the very near future.”<\/p>\n
