id=\"caption-attachment-101533\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A bakkie crashed into the back of the truck on the N12 highway, on Thursday.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe accident took place on the N12, northbound, just before the Elands interchange,\u201d said William Ntladi, media liaison for the Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS).<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cA rescue crew from the Alberton Fire Station responded to the call.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Jaws-of-life were used to free the driver, who was pinned behind the vehicle\u2019s steering wheel.<\/p><div class=\"stream-item stream-item-in-post stream-item-inline-post aligncenter\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cOnce paramedics had stabilised the patient he was airlifted to Union Hospital for further medical care,\u201d said Ntladi.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_101534\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-101534\" style=\"width: 520px\" airlifted to Union Hospital.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The driver of the truck was unharmed in the accident.<\/p>\n<p>All three of the highway\u2019s lanes were closed to traffic while paramedics
