Callies’ impressive results

Germiston Callies' athletes get podium positions.

Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) held its second track and field league at the Germiston Stadium on Saturday.

CGA is an athletics provincial body that is responsible for the administration of the sport of athletics in the central part of Gauteng.

Athletes from different parts of the country came out in numbers to showcase their talent in their different categories.

Discus, shot put, high jump, long jump and hurdles were among the events that athletes took part in throughout the day

Germiston Callies’ Kayla Gilbert, Daarnie van Blerk, Pedro Aaron, Megan Phillips and Luemel Klaasen were among the athletes present, and they did their best and managed to secure podium positions.

“I am very happy. This is a promising start, and I must say that Kayla did really well. This was her first time competing in the long jump after two years and she did aced it,” said Germiston Callies coach Stephané Kotzé.

“I am very proud of all the athletes. They performed well, and we just hope to keep the momentum.”
