What is the one thing you always want to give-up or start-up every year but never get around to doing it?
Residents tell us about their rough relationship with News Year’s resolutions.
Dream big, set goals, be positive.
Jacoba Bester: “I’m overly active. I always make plans to be a more relaxed person, but it never works. I’m always running around. Maybe I need a vacation and a good book.”
Mduduzi Ngobese: “I want to live under the same roof as all my children. Some are in Venda and some are in Ulundi. It will happen when the time is right.”
Siphamandla Madonsela: “I keep saying I will reduce my alcohol intake during the week because it messes up my budget. I want to reserve alcohol for special occasions, I never do so.”
Karin de Bruin: “I no longer make any New Year’s resolutions. I used to, but realised life always gets in the way. I would make all these plans and nothing would happen.”
Sammy Tsoaledi: “Every year I vow to stop overspending. During the holidays I end up spending so much money on partying, alcohol and takeaways then come January I am broke.”
Thabang Pali: “I want to stop smoking. I picked up the habit from a neighbourhood friend and now it’s really bothering me. I want to stop so badly, but can’t seem to.”
