Children share what they love about Africa in celebration of Africa Day.
Afrikaanse Hoèrskool Germiston’s Twanè Hall (16) said; “I love Africa because we have different races, and we should be able to mix with each other without being judged.”
May is Africa month and May 25 was Africa Day.
Learners from Dinwiddie High School and Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston shared what they love about Africa.
Among other things, the learners said Africans should unite.
“I love Africa because it is the motherland. We have a diverse continent with different races and a large variety of animals,” said Kamohelo Mokemone (16) from Dinwiddie High School.
Afrikaanse Hoèrskool Germiston’s Chanè Brits (17) said; “I love Africa because we have the opportunity to learn about different cultures, languages and how they dress, among other things.”
Afrikaansè Hoèrskool Germiston’s Thando Mashinini (18) said, “As Africans we are able to unite irrespective of our nationality. We need to unite together in whatever situation; we have to love one another.”
“I love that we have kept the cultures that we inherited from our ancestors. I feel we promote diversity, among other things. I love that we have rich minerals and that Africa is more like the whole world in one continent,” said Carol Mashaphu (16) from Dinwiddie High School.
“I love all the different traditions that we have. African people have colourful characters and I love that,” said Tracey Tutu (16) from Dinwiddie High School.
