The metro encourages residents and businesses to utilise water sparingly as sporadic heat waves persist.

Although the metro’s water supply network has remained stable for weeks, the demand for water is still high.

Thus the call for consumers to remain active partners and continue to preserve the precious resource.

Last week the metro announced that no irrigation activities should take place between 8am and 4pm.

“Although the situation has improved since last month’s water shortage, we still urge consumers to abide by water conservation measures such as refraining from utilising a hosepipe to water their gardens, wash their cars and paved outdoor areas, as well as filling swimming pools during the stipulated hours,” said spokesperson for the metro, Themba Gadebe.
