The Germiston SAPS responded to a hijacking complaint on Thursday.
A BMW had been hijacked in Webber Road, Lambton, and the victim had sustained slight injuries to the head.
“The police followed up on leads and traced the vehicle and the alleged hijackers,” said Capt George Raphulu, head of communications for the Germiston SAPS.
“Two suspects were arrested and the vehicle was recovered, but no firearm was recovered.”
The men are being detained at the Germiston Police Station while investigations continue.
