Tsheopo Hope Mokalapa, an inspector at the Germiston SPCA, and trainee inspector Jade Nel, rescued an old, blind female German Shepherd from an open drain in Waterloo Street, Gerdview, on Monday.
The dog had injured her nose and muzzle, but was treated by a vet and is recovering well.
The owners reported the open drain to the metro and Themba Gadebe, the spokesman for the metro, responded to the GCN as follows: “Sewer manhole covers were missing.
“They were attended to and closed on December 8.”
