On Tuesday, the DA called an urgent press conference.
This was held at the Primrose water reservoir, to brief the media on what the party calls the “true state” of the Gauteng water crisis.
This briefing followed a public meeting held in Dinwiddie, on Monday night.
This meeting was attended by the mayor, Clr Mondli Gungubele, and saw the public voicing their extreme dissatisfaction with the sporadic and at times non-existent water supply.
On Tuesday, councillors were introduced to the media by deputy chief whip Mike Waters in turn, and went on to describe how the water crisis has affected each of their wards.
What all the councillors could agree on was that there was a complete lack of communication between the metro and the affected residents.
Many wards also experienced problems with the metro-appointed water tankers.
“It is reported that very few of these tankers are operational,” said Waters.
“This has meant that privately owned tankers had to be contracted to help to curb the demand.”
Waters went on to commend the councillors on their efforts to communicate with the residents of their wards.
The DA plans to bring the water crisis to the council meeting, on Thursday.

The DA councillors are to be commended for making efforts to help the residents, unlike Gungubele and the anc Metro crew who are noticable by their absence. This Gauteng-wide water disaster has one sole reason, the appointment of anc cadres with primary school certificates into senior positions they are incapable of performing.
when the tankers are not too busy the drivers charge the elderly people R5 for a 2L bottle of water….
Lets be honourest, the old guard has resigned or ded.Look at the general education of the now replacing them.If you ever were approached by a mechanic holding a written instruction in his hand, being asked to read it for him, than you know what I mean.
It will not get better,
rather worth.
