Pupils to serve on council

Assumption pupils have been elected to the Johannesburg Mini Council.

Amy Weinerlein (right), a Grade Seven pupil at Assumption Convent School, was elected as the Mini Mayor of the Johannesburg Mini Council, for 2014.

Each year two children from 40 schools have the opportunity to be chosen to serve on the council.

Amy and her co-councillor, Chiara Bonanni, also a Grade Seven pupil from Assumption Convent School, were elected to these top positions within the council.

The council assists charities and people who are in need. Last year the 80 children put back an estimated R1.5 million worth of goods into the community.
