Eight lucky families celebrated the New Year with the birth of a new family member.
Five of the eight beautiful babies were born at the Bertha Gxowa Hospital while the other three were born at the Life Roseacres Clinic.
Ruth Mkhize gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at the Bertha Gxowa Hospital on New Year’s Day. The baby girl, who is yet to be named, was born at 9.15am, weighed 3.15kg and was 52cm in length.
Hleketa Makhubela celebrated the New Year with the birth of her daughter. Ntokoto was born at the Bertha Gxowa Hospital at 4.15am. She weighed 3.05kg and was 52cm in length.
Irene Moyo was one of the five mothers to give birth on New Year’s Day at the Bertha Gxowa Hospital. Moyo was blessed with a beautiful daughter, who she still must name. Baby Moyo was born at 6.55am, and weighed 3.58kg and was 55cm in length at birth.
Tenike Etsebeth was born at the Life Roseacres Clinic at 11.24am on January 1. Tenike was born to Emile and Rochelle Etsebeth and weighed 3.08kg and was 48cm in length at the time of her birth. Maralize Schoemann (left) and mid-wife Duduzile Khambule smile happily with the family.

The New Year got off to a wonderful start at the Bertha Gxowa Hospital, with the arrival of five New Year babies. The first of the New Year babies to be born was delivered by Thulile Mbhele, and named Thabo. The beautiful baby boy was born at 1.20am, weighing 2.8kg and was 50cm in length.
Nyandeni Sithembinkosi was the second mother to give birth to a baby boy at the Bertha Gxowa Hospital on January 1. The baby boy, who is yet to be named, was born at 2am. He weighed 2.935kg and was 48cm in length.
Thandokazi Sphesihle Zondi was the first of three baby girls to be born at the Life Roseacres Clinic on January 1. The baby girl was born to proud parents Thando and Sizare Zondi at 10.16am.
