Gavin Lerena rode the Alec Laird-trained racehorse Bouclette Top to victory at this year’s Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile race at Turffontein Racecourse, last Saturday. The win netted Thembakazi Aftercare Centre in Vosloorus R150 000. Top Billing presenter Jonathan Boynton-Lee was the charity’s celebrity at the event and the GCN, the media partner.
After Gavin Lerena rode the Alec Laird-trained race horse, Bouclette Top to victory in the Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile at Turffontein Racecourse, last Saturday, it was time for the jockey to celebrate with the likes of Top Billing presenter, Jonathan Boynton-Lee, who publically represented the horse in the event. Joining in the festivities with Lerena (third from left) and Boynton-Lee (second from right) are Melissa Hart, editor of Germiston City News, the winning team’s media partner in the race, Jockey Association chairman and the winning jockey’s dad, Tex Lerena and Zanele Xhego and Nandipha Sishuba the representatives of Thembakazi Primary Aftercare Centre in Vosloorus which is the charity affiliated to Bouclette Top and Boynton-Lee.

The Germiston City News was once again one of the media partners for one of Gauteng’s most popular horse racing events of the year, the Peermont Emperors Palace Charity, which annually brings 16 well-known personalities together with 16 top-class racehorses for the benefit of 16 deserving organisations, at Turffontein Racecourse.
