Trudie Britz (left), Danise Britz, Fransie Wait and 16-month-old Liam Britz braved the chilly morning to cast their votes at their local voting station. When asked how they felt Trudie told the GCN they were ready to cast their votes.
An enthusiastic Raksha Rambridge waited outside Laerskool Die President to cast her first vote in the National and Provincial Election. When asked how she felt Rambridge told the GCN, “I am very excited to vote. I have been telling everyone that I know to get registered and vote.”
Sandra Boyce arrived at the Gereformeerde Kerk in Parkhill Gardens to cast her vote. “The voting station is not as busy as I expected it to be and the line is moving quickly. I believe you have to be involved in the situation to make a difference,” she said when asked about her day’s experience.
A very cheerful Anton Venter spoke to the GCN outside Hoërskool Goudrif, one of the designated voting stations in Ward 21.
First time voters,husband and wife team Marlene (left) and Cornelius Lombard were looking forward to casting their votes in the National and Provincial Elections. “We are hoping for change,” said Cornelius.
First time voter Noluthsndo Sithole tells the GCN that she is only a little excited to be involved in this year’s elections. “No party has made voting exciting in my opinion, but still I know I must vote. After all it’s the right thing to do,” she said.
Residents of Germiston wait to cast their vote at the School of Achievement in Ward 42.
The GCN caught Nompumelelo Mofokeng leaving the School of Achievement in Ward 42 where she has just finished casting her vote.
Friends Zinhle Mthembu (left) and Monica Diesel were in high spirits as they waited in line. The two told the GCN that they have been voting ever since they were legal to do so.
